Little investments add up to $2.5 billion CAD to support environmental improvements in the Quebec area, economic opportunities, and cutting-edge technologies.
February 27, 2025 DENVER, USA and QUEbec City, Canada Leading worldwide hyperscale data center provider Vantage Data Centers announced today a $500 million CAD (more than $350 million USD) investment to increase its presence in Canada. The investment will drive the construction of QC24, the fourth and last facility on the expanding Quebec City campus of the corporation. With an extra 32MW of IT capability, QC24 will raise the four-data-center complex to a total of 86MW, therefore enhancing the digital infrastructure of the Capitale-Nationale region and supporting its fast expanding economy.
Driven by major client demand for sustainable data centers in the province, QC24 is being built in line with LEED Gold certification criteria. Reflecting Vantage’s dedication to create sustainable data center campuses, the facility will have minimal carbon emissions, water conservation strategies, modern energy efficiency and an energy management system guaranteeing best operating performance. Hydro-Québec will also supply almost entirely renewable electricity for QC24.
Anticipated to be operational in early 2027, the massive QC24 development project will provide an additional 100 full-time onsite employment once operational and employ up to 400 building workers during its peak period.
Maxime Guévin, senior vice president and general manager, Canada, said, “We are proud to have contributed to the continuous growth of Canada’s burgeoning digital economy over the past six years and are pleased to reafford our commitment to delivering sustainable digital infrastructure through our latest investment.” While promoting a digital future in Quebec, this project will help promote innovation, fulfill cloud and artificial intelligence demand, and generate high-quality jobs. We are eager to keep leaving our mark on the province and to greet patrons to this facility going forward next year.
Vantage celebrated their most recent investment at the growing QC2 site earlier today. Among the distinguished visitors were Investissement Québec International president Hubert Bolduc and Quebec City mayor Bruno Marchand.
“Vantage Data Centers is a very strategic player in Quebec City since the rising relevance of information technology in our companies,” stated Marchand. “We keep working with this company to maximize its social and economic influence in our local community.”
Right now, Vantage owns four functioning or developing campuses in Montreal and Quebec City. When completed, the campuses will represent a combined investment of around $2.5 billion CAD ($1.75 billion USD) and have a total computing capacity of 178MW.
